You know how frustrating it is to not be able to staff schools because so many teachers have Covid-19? Imagine what it will feel like in the future when we can’t staff schools because we spent so long treating teachers like they were expendable…

I'm curious whether the CPS lawyers, CEO and the Mayor and the city medical quack were receiving texts about their friends and family members testing positive through the bargaining sessions and meeting like we were or they just don't have any friends.

This is THE question…really who’s going to want to teach anywhere after all this over?

If they can do it, why can’t we, CPS - Chicago Public Schools ? Remember no mandatory testing = no data = public officials who’ve never taught a day in their lives insisting that the data tells us schools are safe.

Cede pay too. If remote teaching isn’t teaching, then remote “mayor”ing certainly can’t either….

Whenever I hear, "Schools need to be open so parents can work!" I get it, but I just want to go, "Which parents?" Because I'm pretty sure the parents picking asparagus at 3 AM have never been afforded that luxury. Or anyone working a closing shift at McDonald's.

Because we have a memorandum of understanding with Chicago Public Schools, secured last month, Chicago Teachers Union educators with agreements with either charter school companies or the district will return to classrooms tomorrow with mask mandates still in place.

We know how COVID is spread. We know what masking does. We know who has died disproportionately. So when white areas are anti-mask and cops are the only people in communities of color anti-masking, it's not hard to understand what people are fighting for.
