BREAKING: Joe Biden has chosen Rep. Deb Haaland to head the Interior Department, The Washington Post reports. Haaland, who is from the Pueblos of Laguna and Jemez, would make history as the first Native American to serve as a Cabinet secretary.

The Interior Department manages our public lands to make sure we protect them, honor them, & preserve them for future generations. This was all Indigenous land, once — so it's ironic that we've never had a Native American Interior Secretary. I would be honored to be the first.

Indigenous peoples have always honored women as leaders & viewed gender as fluid & multi-faceted. Since it's #WomensHistoryMonth we’re amplifying & uplifting our women, femme, trans & 2spirit relatives. We must ID patriarchal systems to dismantle them. Art by @youngmerart

My life experiences give me hope for the future. If an Indigenous woman from humble beginnings can be confirmed as Secretary of the US Department of the Interior, our country and its promise still holds true for everyone.

Are you conflicted about whether you should celebrate Thanksgiving? Maybe it’s not whether you ”should” celebrate, but “how” you celebrate. Listen to the @DareWeSay podcast to hear from Crystal Echo Hawk about what you can do to shift the false narrative. #ThanksTaking
