Another Cape Verde trip done - a little overcast this time, but still very warm indeed! In a busy summer, it’s great to break up the relentless short haul with a little nightstop.

One or two CBs popped up yesterday on our flight down to Zakynthos, and the return too. Lots of avoiding needed!

A day of exploring Northumberland before the Engineers’ walk tomorrow. A 4 mile run down the coast to start the day, followed by a bit of lunch and a visit to the Alnwick Poison Garden. Not a bad way to spend a day off!

A quick trip down to Mahon this afternoon, with a flight time of less than 2 hours - makes a refreshing change! It’s rather breezy down here. 20 gusting 30+ definitely focuses the mind!

Privileged to be at the Battle of Britain Service at Westminster Cathedral this morning, including a superb fly past from Jamie “JJ” Jackson and the BBMF Lancaster. An incredibly moving ceremony that certainly cemented our gratitude to those who gave so much.

Starting the day off strong with a little baking - pumpkin spice cupcakes with a cream cheese frosting. Looking good!

A few options for a little early November adventure and I simply cannot decide - Zagreb (culture, but chilly), Tunis (history) or Seville (culture, but also maybe a bit dull?). Decisions decisions!

A grey morning at RAF Odiham but it was a privilege to be invited to speak the station’s annual Air Safety Day. Lots of great questions posed and fantastic engagement, which is all you can really ask!

This time last year, apparently, was the culmination of a few days in Kosovo. What a fascinating country, with a sombre recent past but incredible culture and people. Really enjoyed my solo trip there!

30 minute easy run this morning, trial hour session of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at lunch (that was an experience!) and 30 minutes in the gym this afternoon. It’s been a busy little day!

It’s #OrganDonationWeek & discussing your wishes, as well as regular blood donations, are so crucial. I’ve been a blood donor for 15 years, and signed up to the organ donor register for as long. Maybe think about doing the same? It’s never too late to start!

Today’s fun is triennial training - firefighting, door operation, survival equipment, passenger restraint and so on. It’s always good to get a bit of a hands-on practice!

Dame Maggie Smith - what a loss for the UK & the arts in general. From performances in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (a book inspired by my mum’s secondary school, no less), to Downton Abbey and so many more, she really was a national treasure.

It’s nice to receive a little recognition for hours put in - this was picked up today!
