Being depressed and also a grammar nerd is a fun way to learn the different between active and passive voice. Do you want to kill yourself, or do you just want to have been killed?

“It’s not healthy,” he concludes, “for any human being to have unfettered access to everything, everywhere, all the time, for free.” There’s so much joy in the world, in books, in other people, but we have to be willing to risk the boredom and bruises of an analog life.

Preschool. Courtney. My memories painted her as the mean girl of my clas. I remember telling her tossing a ball was a game for only 3 people—me & two friends. Years later I saw a class photo. Only four girls in the whole class & I willfully excluded her. I was the mean girl.

My kids are official Theatre Kids. They went with a group of more than 8 to a casual dining establishment one hour before closing in full stage makeup and sang songs from the show.

I am so so sick of reading these “just eat less and move more! It’s free!” Takes. Listen, I am 37. In the last 8 months I ran 2 half marathons. I am up at 5am 5 days a week to run and lift for an hour before my kids wake up because it’s the only time I have. I cook at home daily.

You've heard me blather on about quotes taken out of context; now let's talk about misattributed quotes! Because these are super annoying, rampant on the internet, and a symptom of unchecked misinformation. 😬 A thread (feat. Jane Austen, but of course), with sources. 🧵

Unconscious bias (which is rubbish anyway) isn't unconscious if you know about it. So here goes... yet again. I've only watched about half an hour of gymnastics so far, but I've clocked "elegant, graceful, elegant and smooth, full of grace, etc." for white gymnasts and...

I’ve been using “weird” as a compliment for my 6yo, who is a delightful mix of socially-savvy and psychotic, fashionable and feral. What are alternate words I can use, now that “weird” has become code for “keep the hell away from my daughters, country, and couch”?
