Labour are ignoring the real underlying causes for actual persistent absence namely persistent sickness, lack of SEND support, poverty & familial factors etc. Manipulating the general ignorance re home education is poor form & wholly unfair to the home ed community.

Unfortunately, despite the claim in this article, the bill doesn’t contain any actual support for existing home educators at all, and shows no sign of improving access to exams. It introduces a duty of support on LAs - but only as they ‘think fit’. Exams are not mentioned.
