Some people hadn’t seen home in 20 years. Others were born in exile. In 2021, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi joined Ivorians returning home, marking the official end of their refugee status and the start of a new chapter.

Israel’s plans to block INGOs in Gaza means blocking life-saving aid. The EU has been clear: the NGO registration law can not be implemented in its current form. All barriers to humanitarian access must be lifted. IHL leaves no room for doubt: aid must reach those in need.

A great pleasure to be in Kakuma with Barham Salih on his 1st trip as High Commissioner. Despite funding cuts & other challenges, we witnessed how #Kenya’s inclusion policies on education, self-reliance, health & sport improve the lives of refugees & their hosts. #Shirika

I saw how refugees have access to healthcare, education, and play an active part in society benefiting the whole community. This is how we move from aid dependency to self-reliance. Kenya is doing its part. It needs greater international support.
