Ms. Judy Korecky of Canada in Geneva 🍁 delivered opening remarks at the side event, highlighting Canada's priorities in enhancing #ATT universalisation and implementation, stressing the need to strengthen parliamentary awareness, political will, and tackle unregulated access to #SALW
Board Member of @parlforum and Director of appargentina, Ms. maria pia devoto, emphasised the importance of #CSP10. Given the state of the world, the 10th anniversary of the #ATT reminds us of the significance of honouring the Treaty’s primary objective: to #ReduceHumanSuffering.
Mr. Callum Watson, Gender Coordinator at small arms survey , recommended using disaggregated data for #ParliamentaryAction to draft, oversee, and evaluate policies. He also suggested complementing the #ATT’s supply focus by addressing the demand for illicit arms.
At #CSP10 Parliamentary Forum on Small Arms & Light Weapons’s Secretary General Karin Olofsson delivered a statement on the importance of MP involvement in international processes on #ATT. #ParliamentaryAction is key in enhancing universalisation and implementation of the #ATT and preventing #SALW-related violence.
