The governor is correct that he is “on the 1 yard line“ in getting his voucher plan. He has 99 more yards to go. No vouchers in Texas. Not now. Not ever. #txed #txlege

Public School accountability exists through local governance School Board Members …are elected officials …hire the superintendent …approve the budget …hire the external auditor …monitor student progress Private & charter schools have no accountability to taxpayers

Vouchers: Welfare-for-the-Well-Off Proclaimed as "God's Call" Creighton's bill allows general fund transfer$, literally has no fiscal limit. He could bankrupt the state like AZ. #txlege #txed #VouchersAreTaxes

Lawmakers are meeting NOW to discuss and vote on a voucher program. Join me in asking lawmakers to fund public schools, not vouchers. #txed p2a.co/lFTjDd1

I am amazed at the stuff that is said on Twitter from Greg Abbott and his cronies. It reminds me of an eighth grade boy trying to convince us that his girlfriend lives in Canada and we’re all like “yeah, ok” but no one calls him out and we just all know he’s full of nonsense.

Greg Abbott Trick or Treat, folks! Private school parents get offered even more “carrots” in a voucher, while public schools and teachers get a vague promise of more funding. 😱 Like a bad horror sequel Abbott’s latest is more expensive, and even worse.

So the right to choose the education a parent wants their children to engage in has been a legally protected right in the U.S. for 98 years. School choice isn’t new, my friends. Stealing money from public schools is the new part. (2/2)

We are once again in a prideful, wasteful exercise of government overreach, centralized power, and blind political ambition, to advance a corrupt private school voucher policy that Texans neither want nor need, because of one man and one man only: Greg Abbott #txed #txlege

As a mom w/ 2 kids in public schools, I am one of the millions of TX parents w/ “skin in the game” in this voucher fight. Our teachers are the beating heart of our neighborhood #txed public schools. We must do better by them and not tie their pay to a voucher scam.

We hire teachers for their strengths, yet we fixate on managing their perceived weaknesses. Imagine the impact if we not only identified and celebrated strengths but also created a culture actively nurturing and amplifying them!

The longer I’ve been in education the clearer it has become that most educational reforms are not based on research, but based on profit.
