Capitalists will always seek to cut costs by putting workers in competition with machines, driving down wages and forcing us to accept more menial work for less pay. This isn't a problem that's unique to artists, generations of workers have faced the same challenges.

If we weren't forced to turn our hobbies into jobs to survive, and if the tech was collectively owned and controlled by everyone and not just a handful of unaccountable shareholders and CEOs, the development of something like DALL-E would be a huge boon to society.
