“There are two types of tired: one that requires rest, and the other that requires peace.” I pray we have both today. 🙂

For the first time I attended a birthday / thanksgiving party of a patient who became a friend. I know I’ve crossed a “line” but I am glad I did. I realized that each one of them have stories to tell. Each one so loved. It was good for the soul, my soul. 🤍

There are times you wish that we can find easier ways to grieve for patients. It never gets easy. I wish we could save them all.

Was doing debriefing for college students earlier at the sim lab. Then I said I’ve been practicing for 21 years and they looked 😳. Then I realized that’s older than their age in years! 😂 I think in med you feel younger he he.

Doctors please remember For you it's just another appointment. Just another rounds visit. But for patients those 10 minutes are the most important visit of their day. Sometimes of their lives.

Got the tightest hug from my last patient. She had advanced cancer who thought she would not reach this year, our 3rd year. Lately, she’s been travelling & enjoying each day to the fullest. Before she left, she said Dr, may I please hug you? There are good days, still. ♥️

To my young colleagues-- No one knows as much as a medical student on their last day, or as little as a new doctor on their first. Stay humble my friends.

One realization from the past few weeks: not everything you do will be counted or appreciated. So, a note to self—keep doing it for the passion, the commitment, and the values you believe in.

It’s the little gestures. I disclosed cancer to a 75 year old. As I was discussing the treatment plan the husband reached out and fixed a strand of hair and lovingly looked at her with very sad eyes. Love is always amazing. She will be alright. He will be ok. All will be well.

New study finds a sweet spot of 7 hours 18 minutes of sleep a night for lowest insulin resistance risk. Too little or too much sleep raises risk, and big weekend “catch-up” sleep may actually worsen glucose metabolism if you already get enough during the week.

It’s always heartwarming to be able to tell a patient that professional fees are waived because she’s the mother of a doctor. No fail they would always be surprised then grateful. Not entitled at all. I always say that’s your privilege. And I am always grateful for the trust. ♥️
