1996 - Eskom warns government that capacity will run out soon. 1998 - the warning is repeated, saying by 2007 it would be game over. The warnings are ignored. 1998 - Cabinet approves the “Arms Deal” - R100 billion. 2007 - loadshedding & bailouts start. 2023 - Stage 6
