he’s leaning against the counter , her mug sitting on the edge . “ how’d you sleep ?”

“ trick question .” he’d hum , his arm’s folded over his chest — he’s keeping his face in the shadows for the time being .

he’s taking a step forward for a moment to grab his own mug , the light from the window illuminating his features long enough to show his face was coated in bruises . “ i went on patrol .”

“ i’ll be fine .” truth be told , he didn’t want to wake alfred . . . the man deserved a break .

“ don’t worry about me .” he didn’t want her wasting her energy .

“ i’ll take care of it later , i’ll be fine .” he knows better than to try and stop her .

there’s a little huff . “ go ahead , then .”

sigh .

“ do you ( have ) to do that ?!”

his face is remaining emotionless — not even reacting to the stinging . “ . . . thank you .”

it’s not like him to show appreciation . “ . . . did you plan on training today ?”

“ i’d be happy to help , if you’d want me to .” he’d hum , leaning back against the counter for the moment .

“ aren’t you afraid to get out on your ass , again ?” he’d tease , his hands resting by his sides .

“ i’ll have dick swing by , he’s a good sparring partner .” truth be told he just didn’t want to make her feel worse .

a brow is arching , he didn’t need to be a great detective to notice that . “ . . . right .”

“ i’ll choose to ignore it .” it’s probably just best for his peace of mind that he leaves it alone .
