Last Wednesday’s hearing on HB382 was a powerful moment for the Justice4LaKeith Coalition. LaKeith’s mom, Brontina Smith spoke truth to power in a roomful of legislators with the power to support changing Alabama’s Felony Murder Rule.

We were sad to learn that HB 382 will not be moving forward this session but the fight is not over! Following the committee hearing, legislators on both sides expressed an interest in wanting to work together on the bill but need additional time to get more information.

A letter to You, from LaKeith! He’s been locked up since he’s 15 years old (over 8 years) because the cops killed his friend. He is often relying on his family, friends, and community to share his story. But here you have it, in LaKeith’s own words. Please share his story!
