The past two weeks a group of 30+ IU School of Medicine incoming MS2s participated in IUEM Ultrasound Summer POCUS course led by Dr. Herbert. They’re ready to teach their classmates around the state about #POCUS!

Finished Intern Year this morning — challenging but rewarding! Now onto upper-level status ! 🚑

I asked 100 ED doctors what we are experts at. Most notable were how often things like teamwork, compassion, communication, remaining calm and more came up. While we must be experts in many pathologies, what makes our discipline special is how we act, not just what we know.

Back in the Riley IUPICU this month! I was here as MS3 in 2020 and remembered how smart I thought the PGY2s were….oh how the tables turn😂

Everyone gets all excited for high acuity EM shifts — but low acuity can be just as fun & interesting: nail trephination, corneal FB removal, dog bite partial repair, cat scratch fever, etc (examples from past 2 shifts)

Although I’m thankful Butler Biology gave me the knowledge and experiences for medical school — even more grateful for my botany, biomechanics, and tropical biology knowledge that makes vacations much more enjoyable 🇨🇷🌴
