Our families tell us they want local opportunities to meet & socialise in a community that understands the interests & quirks, but also the struggles of their children. Help us set up regional opportunities. #volunteer

Is it time to rethink how we describe, value & assess the development of young people? Will policy makers consider all options? Such as rethinkingassessment.com? Potential Plus UK's community of learners would benefit from more flexibility! Professor Bill Lucas Geoff Barton Skills Builder Partnership

Travel to a venue can often be an additional & unwelcome barrier to accessing support. Potential Plus UK tries to address this through the provision of an assessment carried out by a professional assessor working remotely with the young person in their own home.

Really excited to be running this #leadership programme for #youngpeople. It's fully funded by Potential Plus UK & running over several months, so if you know of a young person (13+) there are still opportunities to join in. Email [email protected] for more info.

Supporting #disadvantaged children in the #earlyyears is essential and ensuring all children have access to high quality education, regardless of their circumstances, should surely be a priority for any government?

The Children's Commissioner for England is right - the SEND system isn't working for children as it should. But radical reform isn't the answer. The law on support for children w/ SEND couldn't be clearer, but it isn't being followed. The system needs to be made to work, not reformed all over again.

As far as I am aware this is the first time in its 57 years history that Potential Plus UK has facilitated a project where it is the the young people themselves who identify the challenges they face & design the support they need. And it is for the charity to listen & deliver that support!

How can state schools build that cultural capital in their students that Bobby Seagull MBE alludes to when they seem to have so many other, often societal, issues to deal with? Is there a practical way to bridge the gap?🤔

Educators, parents and young people need constant reminders like this about the benefits of quality apprenticeships to ensure all young people understand their options and are able to make informed decisions about their futures.

Positive comments on importance of teachers engaging parents in 'drawing out' of children's knowledge, skills & abilities. At Potential Plus UK we analysed 244 education & welfare assessments of bright children, 40% with SEND but only 18% experiencing positive parent-school relationship.
