A few absent tonight but we were still 15, with one new member :). Island Song received an average score of 5. Most of us felt the story had potential and was an easy read but too many important themes were skimmed over and the book was lacking depth.

What Doesn't Kill Us by Ajay Close is our book for our meet-up on Thurs 24 April at River's Meet. Set in Leeds while the Yorkshire Ripper is at large, it promises to be an atmospheric read #crimenovel #thriller #policeprocedural #leeds #yorkshire #bookgroup #bookclub #book

At group tonight “What Doesn’t Kill Us” by Ajay Close averaged 5.8/10. Many found it a difficult book to read, some feeling it was too close to true crime. Members from the area and from that era (the early ‘80s) were able to relate a bit more. It generated a great discussion.

Next, we’ve got 2 books, thanks to The Reading Agency Please read one or the other (fast readers might be able to read both, depending on availability). We’ll discuss both at our next meeting on Thurs 29 May. If you can, please write a review online of whichever book you read. Ta

It was the driest March for 60 years in the UK and the sunniest April since records began in 1910, and our wildlife are suffering. It takes so little to make their hard little lives easier. A turn of the tap is nothing for you, but could mean the difference between life and death

A wonderful day sharing information about hedgehogs with the younger generation & lots of tips on how we can help these lovely creatures, in our own gardens & communities 🦔

Please put out a dish of water, now. And refresh it tonight, and every night, just before dark. Leave yourself a reminder note on the fridge.📜✍️ Babies are dying because the mums are too dehydrated to make enough milk for their needs. Even if you had a rain shower in the

Tonight’s average score was 7/10. It was well received, although some enjoyed the genre more than others. Most thought the plot was cleverly written, although some got confused at times! There were lots of twists to keep us guessing! #bookgroup #thriller #BookClub #reading #book

Over 20 met to discuss Rest of our Lives by Benjamin Markovits. Scoring 5/10 it turned out to be a bit Marmite. Many didn’t like the characters or slow pace, others thought it was a well-written portrait of midlife. Thanks to The Reading Agency and Faber Books for the books. #books
