I'm heartbroken to hear that my friend and colleague Eelco Visser has passed away. Eelco made many contributions to programming languages, including meta-languages, tools, theory, and DSLs. His warmth and leadership enhanced OOPLSA and many other communities. We will miss him.

I am defending my PhD thesis on Julia subtyping on Aug 2@9 am Eastern northeastern.zoom.us/j/94664999414 It's been 5y since I started my PhD, 3.5y since I last saw my family in person and COVID-19 happened, 1.5y since my home country invaded Ukraine, and 9m since my daughter was born...

Not many things went the way I imagined, and I can hardly put my feelings into words. I definitely wouldn't be able to get to this point without so many good people and plenty of luck.
