Endometriosis has long been wrongly perceived to be rare among women of African descent. The misconception about the prevalence of endometriosis among African women has significantly contributed to long diagnostic delays, and care, and a scarcity of research on the condition

When I got into endometriosis research I was constantly reminded how taboo and underfunded this field was/is. This article is a timely and refreshing view about the momentum made in the last 10 years. There is so much more work to be done. This is just the start.

If you understand the science of human reproduction and IVF then you can understand why equating a fertilized egg to a child is nonsensical and dangerous. npr.org/sections/healt….

This years #SRI2024 was an absolute blast and despite a few panic inducing technical challenges (#LizziecanIborrowyourcharger…) it was so fun to show what the #GneccoLab has been up to, learning about fascinating repro science and catching up with colleagues. See ya next year.

This was an exciting week for the #GneccoLab. We hosted the first visiting student Hannah McDowell from Northwestern at the Monica M Laronda lab. We learned SO much about ovaries, the female repro track, and took some pretty pics while doing so. Stay tuned as we explore the unexplored

The MFI (Maternal-Fetal interface) is some of the most complex and facinating biology out there, come find out how biomaterials can help understand it better. Looking forward to seeing all the talks 12th World Biomaterials Congress (WBC 2024)!

Proud PI moment: Not only did Lizzie Marr (@[email protected]) give the #GneccoLab first trainee-led oral talk at the SFBiomaterials northeast symposium, but her work using our tissue engineered tools to study the mechanism of LIF signaling in the uterus won her a SfB Student STAR Award. Congrats!
