Colossians 2:9-10 Jesus is: 1. 100% God. (v9) 2. King of kings. (v10 “head of all principality”) 3. Almighty. (v10 “head of all…power”) So being in Jesus means that we are complete. He completes us and we can add nothing to Him or take anything away from Him.

Colossians 2:11-12 In Jesus, we have a spiritual operation performed on us which is the spiritual circumcision of Christ. This spiritual circumcision allows us to: 1. Spiritually die to our flesh. (v11) 2. Spiritually be baptized. (v12) 3. Spiritually be risen. (v12)

Colossians 2:13 When we believe on and receive Jesus as our Saviour, we are: 1. Acknowledging that we are spiritually dead in our trespasses and sins. 2. Made spiritually alive. 3. Forgiven of all our trespasses and sins.

Colossians 2:13-15 How can Jesus make us alive spiritually and forgave all of our trespasses and sins? He was sinless, therefore He could take the Law (which was against us) and nail it to His cross while being our substitute and paying for our trespasses and sins.

Colossians 2:16 We should not judge others and others should not judge us about our diet and holy days based on the Law. Jesus fulfilled the Law and was condemned for us, under the Law, so that we now have no more condemnation by the Law but are free to follow Him.

Colossians 2:16-17 A shadow is a representation or type of something that’s in opposition to the actual substance. The diet and holy days of the Law were a shadow of Jesus. They point us to the body, but they’re not the body. The Law (shadow) can’t do what Jesus (the body) did.

Colossians 2:18-19 The false teachers are trying to deceive us, to follow them and not receive a reward from the Lord, by their false: 1. Humility (v18) 2. Worship (v18) 3. Spiritually (v18) 4. Mindset (v18) 5. Authority (v19) “Head” 6. Power (v19) 7. God (v19)

Colossians 2:20-23 “If”, isn’t questioning the Colossian’s salvation in Christ but it’s making a contrast about the flesh & sanctification. It's pointing out that salvation is being dead with Christ therefore we should no longer be living for the commandments & doctrines of men.

Colossians 2:20-3:3 Being dead with Christ causes us to: 1. Not seek the things of men. (2:20-23) 2. Be hid with Christ. (3:3) Being risen with Christ causes us to: 1. Seek the things of God which are above. (3:1) 2. Set our affections on things above. (3:2)

Colossians 3:1-4 Jesus Christ is: 1. Risen and we are spiritually risen with Him. (v1) 2. Seated on the right hand of God the Father and we are seated with Him. (v1) 3. Our life and we are hid with Him. (v3) 4. Going to return to earth and we are going to return with Him. (v4)

Colossians 3:1-7 B/c we are risen with Christ, we can now choose to live in Him. (3:1-4) Therefore we won't live in the desires of our flesh b/c those desires have been put to death when we are living in Christ. (3:5-7) The Lord’s desire is for us to walk in Him & not our flesh.

Colossians 3:9-10 We cannot put on the new man with his new deeds until we have first put off the old man with his deeds.
