By now, you may have heard what about a 'bomb' off the Pacific NW coast. What the heck is that? Well, in weather lingo, a 'bomb' is used to describe a rapidly deepening storm, where the storm's pressure drops 24+ mb (millibars) within a 24 hour period. #pdxtst #orwx #wawx

Light snow is falling across the passes in the Cascades this morning, but rising snow levels today should result in limited accumulations and few impacts to travel at Government Camp, Santiam Pass and Willamette Pass. #pdxtst #orwx #wawx

1-3 feet of snow is expected over the Cascades this weekend, with the heaviest period of snow expected Saturday through Saturday night when snowfall rates could reach 1-3 inches/hour. Gusty winds and heavy snow will result in very difficult travel conditions over the passes.

Did you know? Our plows often go out in pairs of two to: create a greater presence on the roadway and hope that vehicles slow down around them AND better coordinate treating or plowing lanes, shoulders, and ramps as a team. When you see lights, give them a lot of space!

A live look at our mountain pass crews starting to mobilize for tonight's major snowstorm. Give them lots of room and none of that cable around their legs nonsense, ok?

There will be an elevated threat for sneaker waves this weekend at the coast. If you are planning to go to the beach Sat or Sun, it is a good idea to stay off rocks, logs, and jetties AND never turn your back on the ocean.

Instead of making a billionaire tax top priority, it would be cooler if they just made the first $100,000 you make tax free. It’s a massive stimulus to the overwhelming majority of workers

Well it's Groundhog Day. ...again. Sounds like we're in for six more weeks of winter, but it's good that the groundhog has at least let us know what to expect. Until then, we'll persevere. Here's to a safe Thursday.
