Three of our personnel have been in Southern California since Saturday assisting with Hurricane Hilary relief efforts. We're glad that #SJFD's Battalion Chief Shawn Tacklind, Fire Engineer Bryan De Mare, & Firefighter Daniel Conner have returned home safe & sound.

Up to two inches of rain and strong winds are forecast for San José and the surrounding area over the next 24 hours. Strong gusts of wind can blow down trees and power poles. Stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Do not approach or touch downed power poles or wires.

#SJFD crews successfully rescued several individuals and dogs from a rapidly diminishing island in the Guadalupe River. Great job by our first responders to keep our community members safe in challenging conditions. #SanJose

#SJFD is sending 18 personnel and four Type 1 fire engines to Butte County as part of a strike team responding to the #ThompsonFire. Milpitas Fire also providing four personnel and one Type 1 engine to complete the strike team.

#SJFD firefighters responded to reports of individuals trapped on an island in the Guadalupe River near Coleman Av and Autumn Pkwy. Boats utilized to rescue 2 adults, 2 dogs, and 4 puppies. One person evaluated and warmed but refused transport. ACS assisting w/ dogs. TOC: 4:32pm
