Today isn’t just Valentine’s Day. It's 1911 Day! John Browning patented the 1911 pistol on February 14th, 1911. It’s still here and Wilson Combat is still producing the finest 1911s.

Traces of Texas reader D.J. Anderson sent in this great photo of bustling downtown Roscoe, Texas, in 1906. Roscoe is in Nolan County, about 3 miles west of Sweetwater. D.J.'s great grandfather was half owner of the plow store that you see in the background. Super clarity!

Family of cotton pickers in Eden, Texas, 1895. The resemblance between these men and boys is really quite strong. This photo was taken by A.R.M. Blair and is one of thousands of photos in the Lawrence T. Jones III Texas collection at SMU's Degolyer Library.

Vote as if your business is closed, your children are locked out of school, family members are alone in a hospital or retirement home and you're not allowed to be there, you have to show a passport to eat or fly, the same people who did this, are on your ballot. #Vote

Mailmen on motorcycles in Avoca, Texas, undated. Avoca is a small town about 30 miles north of Abilene in Jones county. It was named after Avoca, a small town in County Wicklow, Ireland. About 1915 or so, but maybe you motorcycle aficionados will have a better idea of the age.
