It seems clear to me that when government officials use Signal, WhatsApp, private servers etc to communicate about government business, they are doing so in order to avoid transparency laws. That should be a scandal even if a reporter isn’t accidentally added to the group chat.

a bunch of government goons from ICE/HSI showed up to an elementary school in DC this morning and tried to detain a staff member in the parking lot but the person's colleagues intervened and stopped it and let that be a reminder to all of us that we can do that

one time i complimented a girl’s style and she said, “thank you, i do have great style!” then i said wow, i love how much you own that and she said, “i am great at taking compliments ☺️” what an absolute legend

They’re nuking the economy on purpose to bring the public to its knees. Then they’ll consolidate all power. If you follow the path of most modern dictators they all follow the same exact steps. Going after the judiciary, the media, and colleges. It’s the exact same playbook.

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive. No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief. 1/ A 🧵 to explain his plan and how we fight back.

I’ve run across a few tweets of people enthusiastic about the tariffs b/c they believe America will shift all imports to domestic manufacturing and it’ll just be uncomfortable for a little while. Apart from the fact that’s ignorant af, Americans are abysmal at being uncomfortable

Hint for Americans: He wasn't a great businessman, it was just a TV show, he wasn't worth billions, he lied about his worth, he is not a great deal maker, a ghost writer wrote the book, he inherited 400 million and lost it all, he bankrupted 6 businesses, he cheated stockholders

I talked to a guy recently who worked for 40 years in a glass factory. He said it was 125°F at all times and they had to stop every 10 minutes to pour buckets of cold water on themselves or they would pass out.

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die. Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200k/year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

From the Sotomayor dissent: "The implication of the Government’s position is that not only noncitizens but also United States citizens could be taken off the streets, forced onto planes, and confined to foreign prisons with no opportunity for redress if judicial review is denied

It will never cease to amaze that Americans basically just got bored of having the best lives on the planet so they elected a lunatic to blow it up in the hopes of building some microwave factories for their children to find meaning in.

Good morning. Today is the 80th day that the U.S. President is running a backdoor bribery scheme in which any CEO or foreign oligarch can send him money secretly through his crypto coin scam in exchange for favors. It's the biggest scandal in the history of the Presidency.
