I was just randomly thinking about how Carrie would’ve adored and mentored Vivien Lyra Blair. Have to admit: the thought made me emotional. Wishing Carrie was still with us, but we will watch over Vivien—she is already beloved by most of us. Toxic fans are the minority.

Watched the first episode of TheRingsOfPower and it was magnificent! Great characters. Cinematic production quality, from the cinematography to the score. This feels like Middle Earth down to the very details. Episode two tomorrow! #TheRingsOfPower

(THREAD) If the original trilogy is the template for what #StarWars is… Star Wars is fun. Star Wars is dark. Star Wars is “pulpy”. Star Wars is “grounded”. Star Wars is a love story. Star Wars is a family drama. Star Wars is political. Star Wars is a western.

If Apple TV truly rejected Criterion Collection’s offers for a physical release of Flower Moon, they are holding a Scorsese masterpiece hostage and are no friends to cinema.

Taking some creative liberties is one thing. But Netflix needs to understand that fundamentally changing the nature of Aslan for Narnia crosses the line. It’s disrespectful to the source material, full stop. Most longtime fans won’t like it—and they won’t show up to watch.

.Netflix is NOT a “great storytelling company,” as Warner Bros. Discovery’s Zaslav says — it is largely a slop content farm and has done more harm to the theatrical experience than any other company in the industry.

Talent should abandon the new @Netflix Brothers — just like Nolan did after his deal ended with Warner Bros. Discovery. Greener pastures at Universal — or literally anywhere else that fully respects the theatrical experience.

Birds of Prey flopped. The Flash flopped. Both had severe screenplay issues, despite having some high points. Why would the same screenwriter be given the DCU’s Batman?

I liked The Conjuring: Last Rites. It honored these characters we’ve grown to love well. And it’s a step up from the third entry, too. But how come the last two Conjuring movies weren’t nearly as scary or tense as the first two? Probably missing James Wan’s magic touch. 😞

The best thing about Paramount buying Warner Bros.: WB’s immense film offerings will be preserved for theaters, and that’s good for cinema. Netflix’s business model is anti-theater—and it was never a good fit. The Hollywood old guard winning this round is positive.

The wildest thing? Had Netflix ended its war against theaters there wouldn’t have been nearly as much heartburn over the deal. Yeah, NF gave some “reassurances” (w/ a smaller theatrical window), but their history is simply unreliable and they’ve screwed talented filmmakers.
