I feel like I lived through the golden age of software development. It’ll soon be considered a craft like handmade furniture, if it’s not already from the past few months. If you’ve got the passion to build it’s just another tool to learn!

X lately: everyone is merging hundreds AI-generated PRs daily!! Maybe? Reality feels more nuanced. The tooling is improving quickly, but for larger, pre-existing codebases a human in the loop still feels very much so necessary for production workloads. At least for now, but who

I don’t know if smashing enter on the keyboard then walking to get a breakfast sandwich and coffee while my agent works will ever get old.

I've been using Codex ($20/mo plan) on 5.3 High for all sorts of stuff this morning and still have 90% usage left. I tried Claude Code ($20/mo plan as well) with Sonnet and ran out of usage in my session after like 30 minutes. Am I missing something?

As of this moment in time I think the $20/mo ChatGPT plan is widely more valuable than the Claude one. This could literally change at any point tho.

It's actually insane how fast you can build things with AI / Cursor / whatever these days. Type a few things in to Plan mode, confirm the plan makes sense, build it, push PR, done.

I think starting a codebase in a field you don’t know much about can often be an advantage. You don’t come in with any preconceived notions about what it needs to look like. This is assuming you’re working with someone who understands the field well is working alongside you tho.

With all this building and side project stuff going on due to AI, X is starting to feel like Twitter back in the day when it was newer and mostly early adopters who were looking for interesting stuff on the internet. It's great to see!

People have been trying to kill email for years now just for these people to be like “agents probably wanna email right”

It's weird that token spend / usage is becoming some like signal of a "good" engineer or something? I could easily spend thousands on tokens and generate nothing of value. What you are building is still just as important as before. Just because you could make a new feature to do

Would be amazing if Cursor had some sort of analytics on which skills are being used / triggered by my team. Maybe it does, and I just haven't seen where yet? Would use it to cull rules that aren't helpful or useful then double down on the frequently used ones.
