Can’t speak for everyone who contributed to the community space, or even as the only ADA ramp builder, but the work was never intended to be preserved in a library. At least not until MDP is fully reopened and more permanent improvements are installed.

This morning, the state of Virginia removed the statue of Robert E. Lee from #Richmond's Monument Avenue. To explore this complex history, the ACWM offers "On Monument Avenue," a selection of documents, online exhibits, a reading list, and a blog series: onmonumentave.com

I've been thinking a lot about what today means and I'm not ready to share that in full just yet. But thank the heavens for be water. Thank you for your thoughts. Thank you for being there every time. Thank you. There is no one I'd rather be on the line with.

Blair LM Kelley, PhD This thread ⤵️ W.E.B. DuBois’ brief note on the life and moral cowardice of Robert E. Lee is one of the single most brutal pieces of writing I’ve ever read

The words that have haunted and guided me today as I reflect on the actions of U.S. Border Patrol are Dr.King's plea for us to see racism beyond the obvious aesthetics. The fact is if this was done without horses and whips, there would likely be little outcry.

CW: death My friend left her body this afternoon. She was alone, except for the nurses and a doctor. I can’t put into words the level of grief that I feel. Please donate to help her son on C*sh*pp at $Deoncod3 & RT.

What broke my heart the most about last night was the fact that there was more stigma than sympathy for the housing insecure and those with addiction. They were denigrated and scapegoated without solutions being presented or a macro analysis of what contributed to their plight.

I don’t care if you head the NAACP or Earth Wind and Fire , you are not going to make the rite of passage of supporting black people be supporting a casino whose success is designed on exploiting them. Y’all black capitalists are doing too much.

“The fact that there are only three members remaining on the Slave Trail Commission reflects the blockade that Delegate McQuinn imposed on new appointments with the support of Council President Cynthia I. Newbille, 7th District, who is listed as a member.” m.richmondfreepress.com/news/2021/oct/…

I watched from the gallery today as Lafonda and Virginia Poverty Law Center brilliantly fought RRHA in federal court today. As I type this RRHA’s Board is in closed session discussing today’s court proceedings. I was the only observer in the court so this is some exclusive tea right here…

This whole industry and party will put you on the black list for simply advocating for a budget amendment. We asked for a pro-black tax re-allocation and these cats collectively beat our black behinds in the street and ran a campaign on doing the opposite of our request.

The Lincoln Project's tiki torch campaign bit shows what happens when outsiders (politicos, press) collapse Charlottesville the hashtag with Charlottesville the community. Stop calling UTR = "Charlottesville." Call UTR what it was: a white supremacist attack on Charlottesville.

Just a reminder to pro-casino folks (on payroll) asking activists "what's the alternative?" that during the uprising we marched to move millions of dollars annually (not just the first 10 years) from police to black communities but yall would rather take it from your neighbors 🙄

we can't afford homes to raise families in. we can't afford doctors to have safe pregnancies & births. we can't afford to take time off work to recover from the physical trauma of pregnancy & labor. we can't afford childcare. we can't afford to continue like this.
