Losartan is the most used ARB in the US despite being the least effective to lower blood pressure and with the shortest half life. See below International Society of Hypertension

In short, losartan is the codeine of ARBs:

- it doesn't do much on its own
- any effect is due to a metabolite
- metabolite formation is genetically determined

The result? Unpredictability and potential interactions with CYP inhibitors & inducers.

And who needs that?
