The despair of a Sumatran #orangutan trying to protect his home. Time to protect the planet and everything on it. #ActOnClimate #ClimateEmergency #climateaction #deforestation #nature

An essential read about Louise Lancaster, a 58 year old former special needs worker who has been sent to prison for 4 years for renting a room for the Just Stop Oil protesters to stay in before their protest

another perspective looking south from Welney Suspension Bridge illustrating the immensity of the #ousewashes - currently Englands largest man-made body of fresh water covering approx 18 square km - a bit larger than Rutland (12.58km2) stated as largest reservoir in England!

1500 pink footed geese feeding ⁦WWT Welney⁩ on lady fen. Birds reacting to less sugar beet grown in Norfolk this year? Would be lovely if they became regular in the Fens again

Just learned from a Norfolk farmer that the whole sugar beet is now harvested leaving no “tops” plus instant ploughing may be having this displacement effect

Absolutely sensational on the Ouse Washes at dusk today!! Ducks, Geese, Gulls, Waders, Swans…and then the Cranes came. I think 87, arriving together, flying straight towards me calling and then circling. One of the best things I’ve seen! 🤩 Cambs Bird Club

One of the last jobs of the year - skylark plots Use 0.3% of the field to establish the plots &increase skylark productivity by 50% Skylarks are red list &declined >50% nationally The plots are the most profitable part of any wheat crop Who's putting some in their SFI?#nobrainer

RBMerganser at Bainton pits today. This bird has been in the area for over 3 weeks but is elusive with apparently multiple roost and feeding locations in Lincs and Cambs ⁦Cambs Bird Club

...so, the Ouse Washes. What a fantastic reserve. After the flyover White Stork, we saw maybe 25 Great Egrets, 2 Common Cranes, ♂️ Garganey, a mass of wildfowl, Marsh Harriers, 100s of Icelandic Blkwits & double figures of my all-time favourites, the L3, nominate limosa 🙂
