Tech oligarchs are forcing their tools and their vision of the world upon us, outside of any democratic process. Projections on the Grand Palais in Paris, where the AI Summit opens tomorrow. Artists, activists, citizens, let's join forces to fight against this dystopia.

This is a big deal, a judge had rejected the fair-use defense in an AI copyright suit. The issue is ingestion and use of data in a way that doesn't pass two of the four fair use factors. This case isn't gen AI, but it's notable because gen AI is even more egregious with data🧵

Boom goes the dynamite. What's more, the judge reversed his initial course after learning more about AI and the case, "I studied the case materials more closely and realized that my prior summary-judgment ruling had not gone far enough."

"The only people that have an issue with our copyright laws are the AI tech giants who find that they get in their way of what they want to do." MP Pete Wishart on the impact Government proposals on AI and copyright could have on the music industry.

Google joins the call to gut our legal protections, pushing for a world where Big Tech gets to profit from all your innovations & works for free, and that theft is ok’d by law. No joke IF they get this, the US will likely face irreparable harm as pivotal creative economies crash

Google calls for weakened copyright / export rules in AI policy proposal: techcrunch.com/2025/03/13/goo… OpenAI declares AI race “over” if training on copyrighted works isn’t fair use: arstechnica.com/tech-policy/20… You have hours left to tell them no: regulations.gov/commenton/NSF_…

I wanna also state, creators aren’t hoping for a change in the laws. Just that the laws are followed. It’s AI companies who want a change in the law. In fact they want the laws straight up gutted as shown by their asks to the administration last week.

So AI companies aren't even pushing "opt-out" as a solution anymore, they just want your data and life's work for free, but you don't get paid, and you can't say no. Who in their right mind thinks this is okay? It's insanity.
