So… after the weekend it was back on the train for London, on my way to the Chairs Meeting at the High Leigh Conference Centre. Three days with wise and brilliant colleagues then back to Bristol (catching up with some reading on the way…) to chair the Regional Stationing Group.

A lovely day in Somerset today. First, harvest Holy Communion at Norton Down, by the old Roman road, the Fosse Way. Then to Wells, with distant views of Glastonbury Tor along the way, before lectio divina/Holy communion in the village of Oakhill. Then back home across the Mendips

Great to lead worship at Trinity, Westfield in the North East Somerset & Bath Circuit this morning on Prisons Sunday and to see the mission-focussed developments in their building. Thank you to all who made me so welcome…

There is still time to register for this District Study Day, whether you are a Local Preacher or simply interested in how the Church deals with issues of social and economic justice.

It has been good to spend the last few days as part of the Churches Together in England Enabling Group with a particular focus on encouraging the work of young ecumenists.

It was good to share with ecumenical friends from the United Reformed Church today at the induction of Rev Yohan Song of the Presbyterian Church of Korea as he begins his ministry as Minister of the Bristol Korean Church at Redland Park and as a member of the SW Synod of the URC.

It was good to preside at Holy Communion and preach at the United Church, Longwell Green, an Anglican- Methodist LEP in the Bristol Methodist District and the diocese of Bristol this morning. A warm welcome and good conversation over coffee following the service.

Two good days at Yarnfield Park for the Life in Covenant group, a small working group from the Church of England and The Methodist Church tasked with taking forward the commitments and aspirations of the Anglican-Methodist Covenant

Now at the first of the residential Stationing Matching Groups (SMG1) in rural Derbyshire as we seek to match the gifts and experiences of presbyters with the needs of Circuits and churches.

Today I was in Quedgeley in Gloucestershire for Remembrance Day. Each year I ‘rotate’ round each of the counties in the Bristol Methodist District. Gloucester is home to the Imjin Barracks, named after a bloody battle in the Korean War in which the Glosters suffered heavy losses.

Thank you to all who contributed to the Bristol Methodist District Study Day on ‘Inequality’ at Keynsham yesterday, following our Synod conversations on ‘Church at the Margins’. An especial thanks to Rev Jan Tate and Dr Wendy Allen for their excellent presentations.

It was good to spend the day in the North Wiltshire Circuit, preaching this morning in Aldbourne, then at Pewsey for the 150th Anniversary of the Methodist Chapel, a church deeply committed to serving their local community, and to present them with their new Eco-Church award.

This is a fabulous opportunity for someone with a passion for learning and education in church based contexts to join a team of dedicated professionals and to support the Bristol Methodist District in their commitment to be a ‘learning District’. methodist.current-vacancies.com/Jobs/Advert/33…

It was a delight to share in leading worship at Malmesbury Abbey today at an ecumenical service to mark the 70th anniversary of the Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust. Malmesbury Abbey is the burial place of Althelstan, grandson of King Alfred, and home of St. Aldhelm.
