Funding must be accessible to all specialist services - not only those commissioned by PCCs or councils. And we must see a ring-fenced amount for led ‘by and for’ BME women, Deaf and disabled women & LGBT survivors to ensure inequalities are not entrenched further [3/4]

Today the Domestic Abuse Strategic Partnerhip focuses upon 2 key areas that can undermine women & children’s safety. The CJS & access to accommodation. Big challenges that are not addressed in the DA Bill. We need a plan #vawg #aroofisnotarefuge #DomesticAbuse

Exciting IRIS news! Our AE's are being trained to deliver our IRIS sessions virtually so surgeries will still be able to take part in IRIS training. It covers how to help women that are experiencing domestic violence & refer them to our service, especially during lock down.

I'm really pleased that the Domestic Abuse Bill has been passed by Parliament. This bill will protect approximately 2.4 million victims each year from domestic abuse. This shows the power of our democracy to make real change for people across the country.

Last night on BBC EastEnders, #Chantelle tragically lost her life at the hand of her abuser. People ask ‘why didn’t she just leave?’ but it isn’t that easy. There are many barriers to leaving an abusive relationship. We understand and want to help➡️bit.ly/2Hax8V7

A conviction of manslaughter is no justice for Claire Parry and her family. We are appalled by the perpetrator’s description of her murder as a 'kerfuffle', and the judge saying it was a ‘loss of self-control’. It is a myth that people have no control over their physical actions.

From today, those experiencing domestic abuse will be able to go into a Boots or indie chemist & seek help. If they say the codeword ‘ANI’ they’ll be taken to a private room & asked if they want to call 999 or domestic abuse helpline. ANI stands for Action Needed Immediately

Long-term sustainable government funding MUST be delivered alongside the #DABill to secure the future of vital domestic abuse services, including dedicated funding for specialist refuges led ‘by and for’ Black and minoritised women Imkaan.

Thank you Jess Phillips for naming the women that have been killed by men in the past year — a list compiled by Dr Karen Ingala Smith. We will not forget them, the women before them, or the women living with abuse right now. #SayTheirNames Femicide Census
