Rob Reiner’s The Princess Bride is an inseparable part of my childhood. We owned this on VHS. Watched it at the lake every summer. How could you not? I’m just seriously in absolute shock right now. We just lost a legend on so many fronts. Rest in power.

Rob Reiner’s Misery is one of my favorite movies- just one of my favorite movies ever, regardless of any further qualifier. It’s hard to accept both Reiner & James Caan are now no longer with us. But films this good allow them to sort of live on forever in some ways. A sad day.

Every new detail I see about Rob Reiner’s death is so horrific and the opposite of how much joy he brought me as a filmmaker. Of course his artistic legacy shouldn’t be overshadowed by one day of tragedy but it feels especially twisted that this is how we lost him

Reiner could’ve shot each call separately and just edited them together but nope. One large room, real phones lines, and captured in one take with about 60 attempts… it’s a symphony. He was such a phenomenal storyteller.
