Pretty disastrous headlines for the government's rail plans. I wouldn't be surprised to see at least a partial u-turn in the next few days. As for an early election? Doubt it. esvhttps://www.examinerlive.co.uk/news/local-news/absolutely-outrageous-detail-leeds-hidden-22208911

The beautifully-told story of a rare cause for hope which emerged from the so-called culture wars. Definitely worth a listen. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

On Channel 4 News @CharlesWalkerMP says he's been told that at 5:30 last night just 3 cabinet ministers supported further Covid restrictions. And now? Draw your own conclusions he suggests.

Candour from Lord Patten on BBC Radio 4 PM as he argues this is not a Conservative government. It's a chaotic English Nationalist government, and it could cause the break-up of The Union. Hmmm, no holding back there.

It takes a certain type of political activist to describe everything they disagree with as the work of 'nazis'. In my younger days all such people were to be found on the wilder shores of The Left. But now... independent.co.uk/news/uk/marcus…

It's so churlish of voters to judge Boris Johnson and his chums on their actual behaviour rather than just what they promised to do. news.sky.com/iframe/widget/…

I wish that, somehow, copies of Jens Galschiøt's memorial could be erected opposite Chinese embassies around the world. The Tiananmen massacre must never be erased from memory. theguardian.com/world/2021/dec…

On #BBCWATO Rt Hon Nadine Dorries was asked whether, like John Major, Boris Johnson should challenge his party to put up or shut up? She replied that Major wasn't dealing with a war in Ukraine. No, but he was dealing wirh a war in Bosnia which, unlike Ukraine, involved British forces.

The BBC Radio 4 lunchtime bulletin has just reported that UK Prime Minister is complainng that Rishi Sunsk has behaved dishonurably. Our catetaker PM taking irony to new and exciting heights.

Just seen Liz Truss walking on stage for her conference speech to M-People's Movin'On Up. Opening lyric "You've done me wrong your time is up" Gordon Brown used the same song at #Labour's 2009 conference.

Been reflecting having just listened to Sheila Fogerty on #LBC accusing Penny Mordaunt in the Commons, while deputising for Liz Truss of "gaslighting" and ,"abusing" the electorate. Fair comnent, but imagine the outcry if she'd said all this as a #BBC presenter

Happy 55th Birthday to BBCLOCALRADIO - a lifeline for millions and an increasingly valuable source of information which helps keep local politicians and services accountable to their communities. It wiuld he a tragedy if the #BBC were alliwed to dilute this vital service.

Finding the Delilah discussion on this week's #BBCAntiSocial very informative. If, as some argue, it's the tune rather than the lyrics which appeals to rugby crowds then why not just change the words? "Wales, Wales, Wales Forever" anyone?
