Medieval England had laws dictating who could eat what based on social class. Nobility: Venison, beef, mutton, game birds. The fattiest cuts. Roasted whole. Peasants: Barley, oats, peas, beans. Meat maybe twice a year at festivals. This wasn't preference. This was LAW. You

It’s funny how these clips don’t ever get Community Noted anymore. That’s because more people are realising than ever before. Not long now…..in the meantime enjoy this classic.

Dr Clare Craig Neil O'Brien was out of control during covid. He was never able to explain his animus towards people questioning the establishment and actually appeared to take great pleasure in threatening them .

Our beloved Franz Schubert d otd 1828, aged just 31. Has any composer taken us to heaven so effortlessly? The openings of works such as the Bb piano sonata, the F minor Fantasie, etc - he opens a door, and we are transported to a world of fathomless beauty. Miraculous music.

The iconic figure of WG Grace, England captain, alongside his Australian rival Billy Murdoch in 1890 - in three Tests that summer England won two and the third was abandoned - those were the days!

Time for a chapter by chapter thread on what my new book, Someone Else's Music: Opera and the British, is all about. I started researching this book back in 2018. I was sick of people saying that opera is elitist, and wanted to find out how and why that idea had come about. /
