Overcoming inertia matters, and peak force is a main driver. Don’t bother chasing RFD or MCV if your pool of strength is mediocre. Sprinting is a massive neurological injection, skip the unnecessary speed lifts, pretend surfing the curve, grinding -and commit to what works.

Not critique just questions: 1. Why is the solution, at least in part, more specific exercises. Specific layered on specific may not be the answer. 2. Are any of these intense enough to actually reduce injury of an object being whipped around the body at 80mph.

As a former researcher in the area, I find it VERY troubling to see a speaker at #SSAC23 saying that menstrual cycle affects injury risk, recovery, and advocating for 'training around the cycle'. There is ZERO evidence for this. Don't do it. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk

Excited to be able to present at the @spfsconference . An incredible caliber of practitioners and researchers to present alongside.

The characteristics that make isometrics good for managing pain during competition periods also make them a prime choice for early stage rehab of patellar tendinopathy, says John Grace, MS. simplifaster.com/articles/patel… via SimpliFaster

We have very good experiences with heavy resided walks & sprints very early in the rehab process after hamstring injuries. Feel it should be incorporated in standard rehab protocols. DynaSpeed by MuscleLab

My thinking for a long while has been that the Achilles, and most other tendons AND the ACL have tissue degradation prior to rupture. Next paper says not always. But, teams should be regularly screening players for this. There are even steps to take to screen before imaging.

Stop with the agenda pushing when NFL players get hurt. X PLAYER didn’t get as hurt because they have a big squat. Y PLAYER doesn’t get hurt because they train like a track athlete. Z PLAYER got hurt because they didn’t do this method. No one method can outrun all injuries

Heavy Sleds - What the Science Says It’s obvious that as you increase the load things slow down. GCTs increase but at what cost? Note: Calves and Hamstrings clearly decrease activity as the load increases to 50% VDec. With all the Achilles and calf issues you have to wonder…

I guess speed squatting is back after a 50 year hiatus? Embarrassing. Either get stronger (force) or jump. Much of the hybrid work is propaganda from decades ago that was just ideas that never transferred. Transfer is improvement that can be seen in performance and training.
