Stone-built hunting blinds are typical structures on our reindeer hunting sites, and this is also the case at the Styggebreen site, which we are currently investigating. Anthony, our US team member, explains how hunting blinds were used as a vital part of a successful hunt.

What's all this about a "legal claim" to be Roman emperor? Not very Roman at all, the true emperor would do things the traditional way* *be declared emperor by your army in Britain/Germany/Judea, march to Italy, have a big battle with another declared emperor, try not to die

Rahile's story cuts deep with the vindictiveness with which Beijing has erased Uyghur culture. Her only crime was to be an anthropologist. When authorities detained Rahile, they also sent bulldozers to demolish the 1000-year old historical town she spent her life studying.

Good thread proving that stereotypes of military cultures lack explanatory power. Real conflict outcomes don't sync well with these stereotypes. Worth adding that Sparta is thought of as a militarist society of super-soldiers but saw itself as a society of heroic free citizens.

My granddad would be 100 years old this year. He was born into a family too poor to obtain a _chimney_ or shoes for everyone. This is an actual photo from the early 1930s. I'm a MSc engineer with a PhD. Social democracy makes us free to be what we can be.

136 of our colleagues in Gaza have been killed in 75 days – something we have never seen in United Nations history. Most of our staff have been forced from their homes. I pay tribute to them & the thousands of aid workers risking their lives as they support civilians in Gaza.

Wow!

Sånn i tilfelle du skulle komme i skade for å ta noe annet hun sier alvorlig.

The ICJ is crystal clear: Israeli policies and practices are to be considered annexation of large parts of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and are in violation of international law. This is an unequivocal message to Israel, which we expect them to comply with immediately.

13 år med tomme stoler. 13 år med savn og sorg. 13 år med stjålne liv. For vi har blitt eldre. Stifta familier, fått voksne jobber og voksne liv. Men de er fortsatt 15 år. 17. 21. De blir aldri eldre. Terroristen stjal fremtiden deres. Stjal alt de skulle bli og oppleve.

So this thing Vance is saying is not true, and Vance knows it is not true. It is confirmed to be a lie. But he's saying it because whipping up an anti-Haitian pogrom, while it will hurt Ohioans (lost lives, damaged businesses), he thinks it will help him politically.

As a Norwegian security nerd I am probably biased, but this is a brilliant long-read by Ben Taub/The New Yorker on life and (security) challenges in the Arctic High North. A must-read with jaw dropping details on some of Russia's cross-border, sub-threshold advances.
