BREAKING: A major war crimes complaint has been filed against 10 British nationals who served with the Israeli military in Gaza. The case could set a legal precedent in the UK Crown Prosecution Service Metropolitan Police Michel Forst CIJ_ICJ ICJP (🦋: icjpalestine.com)

2/ A 240-page dossier will be submitted to the Met’s war crimes unit today. It alleges that UK nationals took part in: - Killings of civilians and aid workers - Sniper attacks on medical sites - Targeting of hospitals, cultural landmarks, and religious sites - Forced displacement

3/ The complaint was prepared by legal teams in the UK and The Hague on behalf of: - The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights - The Public Interest Law Centre (UK) Names of the accused, many of them dual nationals and officer-level, are being withheld for legal reasons.

4/ The lawyers argue that the UK has a legal obligation to act. Under Section 51 of the ICC Act 2001, it is a crime under UK law for a British national to commit: - Genocide - Crimes against humanity - War crimes …even if committed abroad.

5/ Lawyer Michael Mansfield KC: “Even if we can’t stop other governments behaving badly, we can stop our nationals from doing so.”

6/ This comes amid ongoing scrutiny of Israel’s war in Gaza, which has killed more than 50,000 people — most of them civilians — since October 2023. The UK legal team says it’s time to confront Britain’s complicity and enforce the law.

7/ Witnesses cited in the report describe: - Bulldozers desecrating corpses - Bodies buried in hospital courtyards - Mass civilian death Barristers call the evidence “compelling” and want to see those responsible stand trial at the Old Bailey.

8/ The lawyers behind the case are clear: “These war crimes are not in our name.” “The government cannot say it didn’t know.” This case may redefine how the UK responds to the international atrocity of genocide — especially when its own citizens are involved.
