NEW—Journalists at Hearst Connecticut Media Group are working to form a union. Senate Majority Leader Senator Bob Duff, Majority Leader, Connecticut and Labor Committee chair Julie Kushner were out with quick statements of support:

I love this job. I've gone running to shootings with barely a thought for my own safety. I've cried hearing relatives describe seeing loved ones die behind a window from Covid. I'd do all that again. Any other job feels unthinkable. But, my colleagues and I deserve fair pay.

Local journalism is the heartbeat of a community. The reporters at Hearst are providing a valuable public service for everyone in Connecticut and they should be supported for the work they provide.
