After telling an editor that I'm not a short story writer, I challenged myself to write one this weekend. Not only did I enjoy the process, I'm really proud of the result. I learned so much about precision in language and getting small sentences to do many things at once.

My twin boys have both received 4 offers from UCD in Dublin to attend undergraduate courses next year. I could not be more proud of these fine young men.

Second short story in my collection finished. Really happy with this one. I'm very much enjoying the process of writing these. It's a wonderful distraction before I dive headlong into the third novel. I also feel I learn as much from a 2000 word short story as half a novel.

The power of art.
