Congrats to High Point on their first Tournament appearance. Their terrific coach Alan Huss began his head coaching career coaching my high school team. He has since had a fast ascendance (including a stop at La Lumiere, alma mater of Chief Justice Roberts). Good luck today!

An excellent tribute to the greatest teacher I ever had. I’m fortunate to call him a friend and mentor. Congratulations, JCJjr, on 50 years at UVA Law School law.virginia.edu/news/202504/jo…

The famous rallying cry was “no more Souters.” But I wonder whether, in this fractious time, we actually need more David Souters, rather than fewer. On this gray morning, the world certainly feels like a poorer place without David Souter in it. RIP.

I'd also recommend Charles Barzun's (Charles Barzun) excellent article, "Justice Souter's Common Law." It gets Souter exactly right. virginialawreview.org/articles/justi…

This note from one of my 1L students means a lot to me. They’ve had such a tough year with the fires, mudslides, and long commutes caused by road closures. Pepperdine Caruso Law

Part of my continuing effort to show that the late Justice Souter was more than a mild-mannered, common-law judge (though he was that, too). His philosophy of the common law has a radical side.
