Here's a return to the Archtober Haikus I've been doing Day 1: Undead What flesh, now dead, will Not rise in the end? I see Undead hordes revived

It’s wild to see the night sky changed so much by light pollution. 5 nights in a row, there was literally zero light pollution as no one had power. The sky was deep and dark, the stars were vibrant and bright, the Milky Way was as clear as I have ever seen it. Light overshadows.

The only hurricane I can remember being worse than Katrina was Andrew but that has been a while. Helene was no joke, this storm was massive and powerful. Easy to see where power outages were right in the wake of Helene.

In the midst of this storm, no power or lights, winds raging, In the dark I see my 13 yr old come out of his bedroom, and I watch him kneel down in the living room to pray. It touched my heart, and is something I think will impact me for quite a while.

Just spoke to our previous stake president, he currently works as an adjuster for crop insurance. He said he is going to a ton of pecan orchards and it nearly puts him in tears, absolute destruction of decades of work for these farmers. It's hard to describe.

14,000 homes out of 17,000 still without power in my hometown. Helene hit last Thursday night. The power company says complete restoration will take another 3-4 weeks. Days are running together. Now back to work, clean up during lunch, work, clean up after work. Rinse/Repeat

Talking to a crew of lineman from Atlanta and Illinois and they are telling me they have never seen anything like this. My little town is inland about 3 hours, and we still had confirmed winds of 145 miles an hour. We had harsh damage from Andrew in the 90s, but not like this.

You may have seen some of my posts in years past, for the last couple decades we've been over the southeast, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas and have been to a bunch of command centers for crisis clean up. Our stake has two set up this weekend.

Every day I see another church or business handing out free food and water, cleaning supplies, etc. and it warms my heart to see all the good in the world. A lot of people helping people.

These storm cleanup folks are getting soft. 😂 They gave us a tarp and water hose at most of the command centers. A hot shower will do wonders for folks out working all day. Glad to help get this set up at our chapel.

lol. Weird and I kind of love it. Tons of folks in Venezuela would tell me I looked like him when I was there 20 years ago as a missionary.

Been praying all week to get my roof covered or repaired before it rains. There is so much demand companies are not available, it looks like rain tonight. Just had someone come over and repair it. Such relief. But so many houses still need tarps and the clouds are dark.
