#CIFF48 film 9: Doc 'Sugarcane,' codirected by Emily Kassie and Julian Brave NoiseCat, follows survivors of Canadian Indian residential schools. The intersection of colonialism and physical/sexual abuse has rarely been captured as well as it has been here. A truly harrowing watch. @ciff
Seek this film out. It’s an excellent look at generational damage wrought by residential schools. Well told. Moving. Beautiful art. Thank you to Journey Center for Safety and Healing for sponsoring CIFF. My sincere appreciation and healing wishes to Julian Brave NoiseCat and all who told their truth. #SugarCane
