I was wondering something similar re: UW–Madison. The protests and encampments have been peaceful and community-building; it's the police that brought violence this morning.

At a pro-Palestinian event at the Union on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s City Campus. There’s maybe 120ish people listening to speakers right now, and maybe an equal number just kind of milling about. Event is scheduled to go to 7 pm tonight.

More to the point. It is irrelevant to psychologize people who have the correct view: that US universities should not be providing financial support to a country that has killed upwards of 30,000 people, half of them children, and destroyed 12 universities in the last 7 months.

Amidst police violence at Columbia, CUNY and UCLA, the news that my friend Paul Auster has died. In 1968 he was one of the Columbia student occupiers, fleetingly captured by British filmmaker Peter Whitehead in a documentary called The Fall

Doesn’t seem like a total accident that the NYPD raids on students at Columbia and CCNY are happening at the same time that Rafah is under brutal siege
