Great thread from Anshul Kundaje (anshulkundaje@bluesky). My common (and slightly daunting) feedback for my students lately: 'The MACHINE seems to be learning something, but ARE WE?'

In different worlds, the same word can mean very different things. To computer scientists or statisticians, the word 'model' means equations with parameters. To biologists, it often refers to an illustrative diagram (usually the last figure in a paper). Any other words like this?
