x.com/CIRA_CSU/statu… Hurricane Erin has exploded to just about category 5 status. The only good news is that it should stay offshore of any potential landfall. Surf on the east coast will be large and dangerous the next several days as swells from Erin propagate outward.

Hurricane Hunter shot of Melissa's eye before landfall. Central pressure at an incredible 892mb making it thr 3rd strongest Hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic basin. 185mph sustained surface winds with guts we'll over 200mph. I've never seen anything like it.
