Survived my first night back to grad school! This is where I belong. Talking about books & poetry & in the academic space again. 20 years uncomfortably fitting into the financial advisory space & now I understand why that never felt right. Books & writing are my vibe.

I’m at 171,000 words in my wip and I had no idea it was going to be so long. I’m ready to be at the end and the happy ending I get to write but there’s so much story and world building left 😩

I turn my back for five minutes and my sandwich disappears from the counter. Nobody’s in the room but the dog avoiding my scowl. Maybe we have a ghost 🤷🏻‍♀️

When did not putting a comma before “too” become a thing? I think I missed a memo 😬

Mid December: Time to start writing the next book. Let’s aim for about 130k words like the last one in this series of standalones. Should be done by end of January Mid February: ummm why am I now at 235k words and still writing??

Heading into my writing cave to finish this book. Starting word count 112,156. Let’s see where I finish.

Writing sprint done and this book is finished! Ending at 117,651 words for my first draft!

All the time!

Had a productive morning—went to the gym and finished my current project. But the afternoon was an unproductive combination of staring at my list of things to do, scrolling, making three reels, and staring at my list again for the rest of the day.

Taking the rest of the month and July off from writing. It’s amazing how many hours I have in my day when my characters aren’t holding it hostage 😂

Spent the day formatting in Vellum after learning the ins and outs on it yesterday. I’m loving how much easier it is than InDesign

Dinner to celebrate finishing my book this week!

Any time I finish writing a book it’s like I emerge into the real world and discover all the real world things I neglected while buried in my fantasy world.

After a day of socializing I’m ready to return to my introverted ways. I’ll be over here in the corner the rest of the night in my pajamas with a drink and a book if you need me.

Writing is like poking a hornet’s nest. Once the first words tumble out, the rest follow with fervor.

A pen+paper+music=magic, fae, and romance

I wrote a sweet romance with an even sweeter mmc and now I just want to write bashful men who nervously shift their feet and palm their necks because they’re so head over heels in love with their women.
