Alex Chance: Between 2% and 5% of financial flows are believed to be the proceeds of crime and corruption. Some €5 trillion in funds are administered in Ireland, so it's likely sums laundered through Dublin are 'very significant' [that's anywhere between €100 and €250 billion]

This is remarkable - The secret campaign to block international tax transparency initiative

It suggests that case C-37/20 WM and Sovim SA was part of a series of strategic litigation aimed at undermining measures to combat money laundering and fraud

The Kremlin can't even get their story straight. The initial announcement of 'blood clot' was changed to 'sudden death syndrome'. Then changed to 'unknown' and body sent to a 'repeat expertise'.
Just a reminder that the 'repeat expertise' guys in Russia are also the poisoners.

Tucker Carlson has been useful to Viktor Orban because he helps him hide his corruption behind the veil 'culture war,' as I wrote in September. Reposting because Carlson is in Moscow, doing the same favor for a much bloodier, more dangerous autocrat. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…

It's quite the stretch to claim that corrupt payments were 'effectively removed' from Irish politics in the 1990s. If they had, Ireland would score 100/100: it doesn't. See Transparency International Ireland's latest release on the index for a more analysis at: transparency.ie/news_events/co…

It is incredible how all authoritarian/illiberal governments always end up stealing. It's not about 'Christianity' or 'traditional values' or 'the people' or 'the nation', ever. It's about money. See: Poland, Hungary, Turkey, Venezuela, not to mention Russia, China etc
