Today marks the 75th anniversary of when we lost 12 smokejumpers and a local fire guard on the #MannGulch Fire in Montana. We continue to honor these individuals & commit to learning and implementing safety measures in hopes similar events never occur again. #NeverForgotten

Fire danger expected to decrease overall; some ignitions from lightning are likely. Mon. night through Tues. morning is a high-risk period, with winds potentially pushing existing fires, especially in lighter fuels. For more details, refer to local NWS forecasts. Photo: Easy Fire

NOAA indicates a critical fire risk in parts of the PNW, especially along the Cascades in OR and WA. Scattered-severe t-storms with strong winds and hail are expected. Dry conditions and lightning could trigger new ignitions and spread existing fires. Stay alert and prepared!

The PNW experienced numerous lightning strikes this weekend, sparking new wildfires, adding to the region's high fire activity. Some holdover fires from these strikes may continue to pose a risk, especially with dry conditions and gusty winds.

Something I learned working on incident management teams that has a larger application: Training and encouraging your replacement is the most important part of the job and hoarding info/authority is antithetical to the mission.

🚨 The PNW is now at Preparedness Level 5, the highest level for wildfire response. As hot, dry, windy conditions persist, new large fires continue to emerge. Stay alert, follow fire restrictions, and report any smoke or fire immediately! 🔥 #PNWPreparedness #WildfireSafety

In addition to the usual complaints related to aging, older me cannot handle the smoke like younger me once did. Might be time to start looking for a less smoky place to live.

We just reentered #NationalPreparednessLevel 5 as wildfire activity has increased. With more fires, you may be dealing with more smoke in your community and poor air quality. Follow airnow and visit ow.ly/OV3n50Tie09 to learn more about how to deal with smoke.

🔥📷 Two of our local Incident Meteorologists sent us these pictures of the fire plumes on the Lava, Boulder, Goat, and Bulldog fires. I think they speak for themselves. Stay safe if you're near any of these fires, updates are likely coming rapidly! #idwx
