I needed to see this today!

This should going without saying and still has to be said, “Racism in all its forms violates the basic truth that all people are made in the image of God. It also fails to uphold the two great laws of the Christian faith: Love God and love others!”

Today I am preaching the Good Samaritan. We scheduled this long ago and it fits perfectly today. The question asked, “How do I inherit eternal life?” The answer, “Love God and others.” Who are the others? Everyone in need and specifically those not like you! Love them!

As we pray & advocate for justice, please pray for the global church. My dear friend Pastor Emmanuel Bileya & his wife Juliana were murdered yesterday by militants while serving in Nigeria. They leave behind 8 precious children & a devastated congregation. “How long O Lord?” 😢😭

Exhausted by the name-calling, the labeling, the pandering, the insanity. May we who call ourselves Christian look deeply at our own lives, & do whatever we can to love others well. And, when we fail at this, which we all will, may our Christian brothers and sisters show us grace

People are more than their Twitter and FB ideas. Please, for the sake of basic civility and more important - Christian unity, - Can we talk personally with those who we believe are not getting it? I think we would discover the benefit of real conversations over tweets and posts!

As a leader I want always avoid using shame to create compliance but the truth will set us all free. And sometimes that’s extremely painful before it gets better. Let’s do better loving one another.

Lord, save me from the sins of my tongue and the flaws of character that fuel them. Make my words honest (by taking away my fear), few (by taking away my self-importance), wise (by taking away my thoughtlessness), and kind (by taking away my indifference and irritability). Amen.

The reason so many people misunderstand so many issues is not that these issues are so complex, but that people do not want a factual or analytical explanation that leaves them emotionally unsatisfied.

Jesus taught us... “I tell you that on the day of judgment people will have to account for every careless word they speak. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” I believe our tweets are included in this teaching!

I needed to hear that. I am often tempted to pout at the inherent difficulty of leading in our time! God forgive me!

Emotions neither prove nor disprove facts. There was a time when any rational adult understood this. But years of dumbed-down education and emphasis on how people “feel” have left too many people unable to see through this media gimmick.

After hearing from some who enjoyed dropping Twitter (social media altogether), I will disconnect too. I might try again in 2021. For many, and obviously myself, this kind of communication is not helpful or healthy! Can someone text me how many likes and retweets I get from this?
