When we don’t protect our joy, it hugely diminishes our flourishing. We will receive little joy from the good things God is doing that we pay little attention to. #hpcsermons #nehemiah

There is only one war the Christian fights, and only one death that happens. The war we fight is one of indwelling sin, and the death that happens is the death of hostility. This is the Christian conquest of peace. Nic Gibson #sustainingunity #hpcsermons

Jesus reconciles us to himself, and he reconciled us toward one another. These are both equally true. We can’t live according to one and not the other. Nic Gibson #hpcsermons #sustainingunity

The church can’t reconcile the world to the Lord if we cannot reconcile with one another. (2 Cor. 5:18-20) Nic Gibson #hpcsermons #sustainingunity

During this packer game, my 3 y.o. has learned how to say “dang it” and my 1 y.o. has learned how to yell “COME ON”.

"Loving the idea of something more than the thing itself is a common human pitfall...We love the idea of unity, but we don’t love the struggle it takes to get there." Check out the newest essay by Hannah Ahn! #TheLivingRoom #TheLivingRoomHPC #Undivided thelivingroom.substack.com/p/the-beauty-o…

Lord, help me to not care so much what others think of me. But help me to not even care so much about what I think of myself. Remind my heart that when you look on me you find me “in Christ” and see beauty. Let me rest in that. Amen.

Philippians 2 tells us to “in humility value others above yourselves,” but I was starting to generalize people, which isn't a way to unity. It wasn’t a typical generalization like race, gender, class, or kids. It was age. #TheLivingRoomHPC #Undivided thelivingroom.substack.com/p/intentionall…

There may still be snow on the ground (hey, it’s March in WI), but I noticed today that the birds came back. I can hear them singing outside my window. It’s sounds like hope and sunshine.

My daughter (1.5 years old) decided to name her baby doll “daddy” since daddy is her current favorite person. She calls the doll “baby daddy”.
